Graduation Night 2016.

On Wednesday night we had a great graduation. The dinner and dance was so nice and fun and I really wish it was happening again. Thanks to Mrs A and Ms K for organizing this awesome event.

Kia ora Latham,

It sounds like you had a great time at the Year 8 graduation last month. That's wonderful!

Will you be going to a local college in February? It's a very exciting next phase, isn't it? It's definitely going to involve a number of new challenges and plenty of reading and writing. In order to prepare yourself for college, you might want to consider practicing your writing skills with us this summer. You are more than welcome to join the Summer Learning Journey blogging programme. It's running from now until Friday 27 January and everyone from Panmure Bridge is welcome to take part.

To join, simply hop onto the Summer Learning Journey website (https://sites.google.com/site/summerlearningjourney/welcome), click on the 'Weekly Activities' tab, choose an activity and post your answer on your blog.

Dan, a teacher from Manurewa, and I will read your blogs and post comments. Many of your friends and classmates from PBS will also read your blog posts. We'd love to learn from you and spend the next month blogging back and forth.

You will earn you a certificate and a badge for participating. You will also earn points every time that you blog. I'll add up the points and, at the end of the summer, I'll hand out prizes to the top 3 bloggers in each school. It could be you!

Hope to see you online this month :)

Cheers, Rachel

Thanks Rachel, sorry I couldn't get back to you but yes I am now at edgewater college as a year 9 student and I am enjoying a new school. I did enjoy reading a nice novel called Skeleton Creek which was very interesting and it made me want to watch a movie of the film, (But there isn't!) I am also getting used to the fact I have to carry around all by books and a heavy bag but I should soon get the hang of it.
Thanks, Latham.

Hi Latham,

Thanks for the message! It's great to hear from you and to know that you're settling into life at Edgewater College. I really hope that you enjoy the year! It took me awhile to get used to carrying all of my books around the college that I went to, as well. Do you have lockers? We used to have our own personal locker so that we could dump some of our stuff - it really helped!

One of the blog commenters for the Summer Learning Journey, Willy, actually goes to Edgewater College. He'd be in Year 10 this year. You might see him around the school as he'll likely be in your assemblies and Year 9/10 events.

Best of luck for a great year. I'm sure that you'll do really well in college!

Cheers,
Rachel
